The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has inducted 500 new members at the 2024 Annual Project Management Conference, Induction, and AGM in Abuja, marking a significant step toward strengthening professional standards in project delivery nationwide. Registrar Mr. Henry Mbadiwe highlighted the institute’s plans to enforce licensing laws from January 2025, ensuring only certified practitioners manage projects and institutions offering project management training comply with regulatory requirements. He also emphasized the importance of skilled professionals in reducing abandoned projects and ensuring value for money. Since its new council took office, CIPMN has inducted 1,000 members, introduced a standardized curriculum in partnership with the National Universities Commission, and is working with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria to develop the country’s first project management standards. To reach 5,000 members by 2026, Mbadiwe urged public and private sectors to prioritize certification and licensing to enhance accountability and project success nationwide.

CIPMN and National University Commission (NUC) Partner on Curriculum for Universities
The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria has promised to deepen its relationship with the National University Commission and ensure the enforcement of standards in the project management curriculum for Nigerian universities.
The organisation also said it would work directly with all universities in Nigeria to ensure the accreditation of their project management curriculums in line with the law and ensure that they have the resources to deliver lectures in the field of project management.
Institute floats DUCAP to boost project management delivery
The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has established The Delivering Unified Controlled Agile Project (DUCAP) for practising project delivery that is dedicated to the Nigeria Environment.
